The Oklahoma City Real Property Lawyers traces its beginning back to the Title Lawyers Group of Oklahoma City, which established in 1943.

The charter members of the Title Lawyers Group were listed in the first by-laws as:

Wm J. Crowe; Leo Considine; Tom W. Garett; V. J. Bodovitz; H.T. Tumilty; Fred E. Suits; Russell V. Johnson; Raymond B. Everest; Byron Lamun; Sylvanus G. Felix; W.H. Brown; A.V. McCuiston; Norman J. Futor; Claude Monnet; Harland Deupree; and Lee Gill.

The Title Lawyers Group met at 7:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each calendar month for breakfast at Bishop’s Waffle House, later Bishop’s Restaurant, at 113 North Broadway in Oklahoma City.

The Title Lawyers Group limited its membership to forty; however, other attorneys wanted to be part of an active title group. This eventually led to the formation of the Oklahoma City Society of Title Attorneys.

The first meeting of the Oklahoma City Society of Title Attorneys was at Bishop’s Waffle House on Friday, December 7, 1956. Twenty-five attorneys attended the meeting, and the first directors were Roger H. Swan, George Fisher, John Spradling, James Eagleton and Ted Foster Jr. The Society met at Bishop’s, then later the YWCA at 320 West First Street, and later at the Tradewinds Motel on North Lincoln.

In April of 1971, the Title Lawyers Group and the Oklahoma City Society of Title Attorneys merged to form the Oklahoma City Title Attorneys Association. The new group met at the Tradewinds Motel on North Lincoln, and then later at the Lincoln Plaza Convention Center, once a month for breakfast (except for July and August).

Finally, on June 14, 1996, the Oklahoma City Title Attorneys Association changed its name to the Oklahoma City Real Property Lawyers. The charter members of the OKCRPLA were:
